- I don't know how much CMD charges for JiffyDOS these days, but
- I'd highly recommend it. I mainly use my C64 for games now;
- I've loaded dozens and dozens with JiffyDOS and have never had a
- glitch with them. Basically it speeds up disk activity between 3x and
- 10x, depending on the particular function. The only problem I've had is
- the following:
- I don't have the JiffyDOS chip; I have it as a kernal in my
- RamDrive. It seems to be incompatible with several disk copy utilities
- (Shotgun II in particular); as the copy programs won't work and the
- kernal gets corrupted whenever I try. Fortunately, whenever these
- things happen, you can just disable the RamDrive and everything works
- ok (just *a lot* slower). If you have the JiffyDOS chip, I think it
- also has a switch that lets you run the C64 in stock mode.
- JiffyDOS is also nice because it converts your function keys
- into hotbuttons. For example, instead of typing LOAD "*",8,1 you just
- hit F7 and *. Very handy!
- Sorry if this sounded like a CMD ad...
